2024 Subaru BRZ

Overview
The Subaru BRZ is a rarity in today’s automotive world because of its rear-wheel drive, gasoline-powered four-cylinder engine without a turbo or hybrid setup, and a manual transmission (an automatic is available). Yet, these old-school elements attract buyers to Subaru’s affordable sports car. At the same time, the BRZ can’t be called a throwback due to its peppy Boxer engine, sophisticated suspension, Subaru EyeSight driver-assist technology, and advanced infotainment system. In short, the BRZ is a car that combines old and new for a fun and engaging ride that’s hard to duplicate – especially for the price. In addition, there’s a practical element to the BRZ: a 2+2 cabin configuration and fold-down rear seats for expanded cargo space.
For 2024, Subaru has taken the BRZ to the next level by introducing the tS trim, targeting buyers who want extra capability but don’t want to deal with the hassle of aftermarket add-ons. This newest BRZ provides factory-installed upgrades like larger Brembo brakes and custom-tuned suspension dampers, along with unique cabin treatments.

Trims and Powertrain
Subaru offers three BRZ trims: Premium, Limited, and tS. All versions are rear-wheel drive and powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder boxer engine that puts out 228 horsepower. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard across the board, but the Limited trim can be equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission (with manual mode and paddle shifters). The BRZ with the manual transmission is EPA-rated to achieve 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. Fuel economy for the automatic changes to 21 mpg around town and 30 mpg on the open road.
Standard Features
The entry-level Premium comes with fabric upholstery, proximity keyless entry, LED exterior lighting with automatic headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, and 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels with summer performance tires. This starter trim also has power side mirrors, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, a fold-down rear seatback, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a ducktail-design rear decklid, aluminum-alloy pedal covers, two USB ports, and a 7-inch digital instrument display.
The Limited is upgraded with heated front seats, a medley of Ultrasuede and leather upholstery, LED steering-responsive headlights (the beams shift in sync with steering wheel movements), heated power side mirrors, and 18-inch alloy wheels with Michelin summer performance tires. A Brembo performance braking system and STI-tuned suspension dampers are at the heart of the tS trim's enhancements. This BRZ trim also goes beyond the Limited with unique exterior and cabin accents, a blend of trim-specific Ultrasuede and leather upholstery, and an STI-design 7-inch digital instrument display.
While the Limited gets the moonroof standard, the Si-Drive system remains optional. This mid-level trim also adds steering-responsive LED headlights, side-view mirrors with built-in turn-signal indicators, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and Ultrasuede (faux suede) upholstery. The debuting TR is primed for the track, boasting Brembo performance brakes, a retuned suspension with stiffer springs, superior performance tires on 19-inch wheels, and Recaro sport seats. The GT mimics the features of the Limited, but adds Recaro sport seats, Si-Drive, a drive mode selector, variable torque distribution for the AWD system, and an electronically controlled suspension.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
All 2024 BRZs have Subaru EyeSight installed. This sophisticated collection of advanced driver-assist technologies consists of forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure and sway warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. The Limited and tS get blind-spot monitoring with lane change assist with rear cross-traffic alert. Reverse automatic braking is included with the Limited in conjunction with the automatic transmission.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Infotainment for the BRZ is handled through an 8-inch touchscreen, which is used to manage Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth, and access to Starlink cloud-based apps. Audio is channeled through a six-speaker sound system in the Premier, while the Limited and tS get eight speakers.
