2026 Subaru
Trailseeker

EV fans who love the Subaru brand have a lot to be excited about. Soon the automaker will expand its all-electric lineup, as a couple of 2026 models join the existing Solterra. The larger of these newcomers is the Trailseeker, which will represent a blend of an outdoorsy personality and efficiency with ample power. It will be six inches longer than the Solterra and roughly an inch taller. Although Subaru has not yet released the model’s interior dimensions, this additional volume should certainly result in a more spacious cabin, with not just more passenger room but more storage area, too. Standard raised roof rails and a 3,500-pound towing capacity will offer another way to carry cargo and gear.

With size comes strength, as the Trailseeker’s dual-motor powerplant will put out 375 horsepower and satisfying torque. Subaru says to expect a 0-to-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds as well. As far as its amenities, this model will debut a new infotainment system with Subaru’s largest-ever touchscreen (14 inches). Its front end will be especially distinctive thanks to an illuminated badge. You can look for the Trailseeker’s release in the spring of 2026.

Trims and Powertrain

The Trailseeker’s debut will be packaged in a trio of trims called Premium, Limited, and Touring. Its powertrain will pair front and rear electric motors yielding a combined 375 horsepower; Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive will come standard. Front and rear acceleration sensors will enable the Trailseeker to automatically allocate power to the most appropriate wheels, adjusting for optimal cornering, braking, and acceleration control. Dual-function X-MODE (with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud modes) will also be included, along with Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control, for enhanced stability on and off pavement.

The Trailseeker’s 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery is expected to provide an estimated 260-mile range. It will be rejuvenated from 10 to 80 percent capacity in as little as 35 minutes via fast charging. A North American Charging Standard (NACS) port will make it compatible with an extensive nationwide network of charging stations. New England’s Subaru die-hards will be pleased to know that the battery will have an onboard preconditioning system to enhance fast-charging performance in cold weather.
