2025 Subaru
WRX

The 2025 Subaru WRX continues the fifth generation of the automaker's turbocharged all-wheel-drive performance sedan. For 2025, Subaru has revised the model lineup by discontinuing the Base and TR trims while introducing the manual-only WRX tS variant. The tS, which is shorthand for “tuned by Subaru Tecnica International,” features specialized components developed by the company's motorsports division, STI.
The WRX's visual identity remains anchored by its functional hood scoop and aggressive stance, with new red “WRX” badging on both the grille and trunk lid reinforcing its performance capabilities. Also helping with the WRX’s looks is a new optional color: Galaxy Purple. This deep purple is enriched with metallic blue flakes referencing the popular Plasma Blue from the third generation.
Trims and Powertrains
Subaru offers the 2025 WRX in four trims: Premium, Limited, GT, and tS. They all get an exciting 271-horsepower, 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder Boxer engine; Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system is also standard. Most trims, including the tS, have a six-speed manual gearbox. The Subaru Performance Transmission (SPT) is optional on the Premium and Limited and standard on the GT. It is a specialized continuously variable transmission (CVT) with a paddle shifter-based manual mode. The EPA estimates the fuel economy for a WRX with the manual transmission at 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. This changes to 18 mpg around town and 25 mpg on the open road with the CVT. The trunk has 12.5 cubic feet of capacity.
Standard Features
The Premium trim's performance-oriented equipment includes a sport-tuned suspension, a vehicle dynamics control system with a track mode, and a performance exhaust system. It also features an aluminum hood with an integrated scoop and exterior aerodynamic body elements (including a rear spoiler). For convenience and comfort, it has heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, fabric upholstery, automatic LED headlights, remote keyless entry, 60/40-split folding rear seats, heated power side mirrors, a windshield wiper de-icer, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, aluminum-alloy pedal covers, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, four USB ports (two per row), and 18-inch alloy wheels with summer performance tires.
The Limited adds a power moonroof, a ten-way power driver's seat, Ultrasuede upholstery, steering-responsive headlights, unique interior accents, side mirrors with integrated turn signals, and upgraded exterior LED lighting (for turn signals and daytime running lights). The GT expands the Limited's equipment roster with Recaro front sport seats, Ultrasuede and leather upholstery, a sport-tuned suspension with electronic adjustable ride control, drive mode select with customization, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and an Ultrasuede-wrapped dashboard panel. The tS is equipped similarly to the GT but gets its own STI-tuned electronic adjustable ride control dampers, unique interior and exterior treatments, Brembo brakes (with monoblock calipers and larger cross-drilled rotors), and 19-inch alloys. In addition, the power moonroof is deleted to save weight (the tS weighs 130 pounds less than the GT).
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
All 2025 WRX trims have the Eyesight suite of advanced driver-assistance features, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure prevention, adaptive cruise control with lane centering, automatic high beams, rear seat reminder, and driver distraction mitigation. The Limited, GT, and tS also have blind-spot monitoring with lane change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic steering assist, and reverse automatic braking. A rearview monitor is standard, as are a set of airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and incline start assist (manual transmission only).
Infotainment and Connectivity
The WRX’s infotainment system centers on an 11.6-inch high-resolution touchscreen, which is accompanied by wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a multiple-speaker audio system. Voice-activated navigation and a Harman Kardon sound system with eleven speakers come standard on the Limited and higher trims; the Premium is eligible for just the audio upgrade as an option. All 2025 WRX trims have access to Subaru Starlink connected services for emergency assistance, remote features, and vehicle diagnostics.
