Trims, Powertrain, and Performance

The Getaway will offer a trio of trims: the base Premium, the middle-ground Limited, and the plush Touring. All will harness a dual-motor electric drive unit producing 420 combined horsepower, paired with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Dual-Function X-MODE with Grip Control with snow, dirt, deep snow, and mud settings. Subaru has not yet released definitive fuel economy specs but is hinting toward range reaching 300 miles, at least for the Premium.

A long-range 95.8-kWh lithium-ion battery will power the drive unit, with a standard-range 77.0-kWh battery pack expected to follow later in 2027. A standard North American Charging Standard port will open up access to the extensive nationwide Tesla Supercharger network, with Subaru estimating a 10 to 80 percent charge in as little as 30 minutes with a 150-kW fast charger. New England buyers should appreciate that the standard onboard pre-conditioning system will help the battery maintain an optimal charging temperature in cold weather. Vehicle-to-home bi-directional charging will also be part of the picture, allowing the battery to power external devices and gear during outdoor adventures, or as a backup home power source during an outage.

Aesthetics and Amenities

The Getaway’s design will mesh with Subaru’s current EV style trends. Signature LED headlights with dynamic daytime running lights will grace the front end, outfitted with washers for enhanced visibility in less-than-ideal conditions. Like those on other Subaru EVs, the headlights will serve as an external charging status indicator, allowing the driver to check the battery level at a glance. The powerful front fascia characteristic of Subaru’s latest EVs will make its way to the newcomer, and an illuminated six-star emblem will add on-brand presence. Flush door handles and sculpted sides will offer a clean look while maximizing aerodynamics, culminating in signature taillights and illuminated liftgate lettering at the rear. The base trim’s 19-inch alloy wheels will be upgraded to 20-inch wheels on the higher trims. The Limited and Touring will also come with raised roof rails.

Buyers will have a choice between a seven-passenger layout with a second-row bench seat or a six-passenger configuration with captain’s chairs; look for a panoramic glass roof and a retractable sunshade on the six-passenger Limited and Touring. Subaru’s durable StarTex upholstery will grace the cabins of the two lower trims, while the Touring will get a leather upgrade. All trims will come with eight-way power-adjustable heated front seats and a power-folding third row. The two higher trims will receive driver’s seat memory, heated and ventilated first- and second-row seats, a heated third-row bench, and a heated steering wheel.

Safety and Driver-Assistance

The proprietary EyeSight driver-assist suite will consist of dynamic radar adaptive cruise control along with a pre-collision system, a blind-spot monitor, reverse automatic braking, and a distraction mitigation system for the driver. The Limited and Touring will also get traffic jam assist with low-speed hands-free driving, Advanced Park hands-free parking assistance, lane change assist, and front cross-traffic alert.

Technology and Infotainment

As a perk of the collaboration between the two automakers, the Getaway will include a digital key courtesy of Toyota Remote Connect. All three trims will feature a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and dual wireless smartphone chargers in the front row, along with four USB-C charging ports, two in each rear row, joined by a 120-volt AC auxiliary power outlet in the Limited and Touring. Infotainment will center around a 14-inch Subaru Multimedia touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay; the audio system in the lower trims will be upgraded to Harman Kardon premium audio in the top trim. While the rest of the multimedia details aren’t known at this time, the Uncharted and Trailseeker also have onboard navigation, Amazon and Apple Music integration, SiriusXM satellite radio, and 4G Wi-Fi, so we can expect the Getaway to have the same.
