Excludes Hybrid Models

Subaru made a couple of runs at a gas-electric Crosstrek in the past, but neither one stuck around for long. Now, for 2026, the Crosstrek Hybrid finally promises market success as the automaker has figured out the right formula to please eco-conscious drivers who don’t want to compromise on utility. The signature BOXER engine works with two electric motors (one for propulsion and the other for ignition and keeping the battery charged) to generate a Crosstrek-best 194 horsepower and nearly 600 miles of range per full fuel tank. The 36-mpg fuel economy, as estimated by the EPA, is 38 percent higher than what the traditional gas-only Crosstrek achieves, which gets the attention of drivers who want to lower their gas expenditures along with their carbon footprint.
As expected, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive comes standard, just as it does on all Subaru models (except for the sport-forward BRZ). One thing that’s unusual as far as Subarus go is the inclusion of a power moonroof: the Crosstrek Hybrid makes that feature a first among the automaker’s base trims. They’ve also made choosing an exterior color fun with the likes of Pure, Red, Citron Yellow Pearl, and Sapphire Blue Pearl.
