Car manufacturers usually have a nameplate’s generation last longer than three model years, but the Solterra has been so significantly refreshed that Subaru is declaring it “all-new.” This second generation is marked by state-of-the-art technology, a lineup expansion, and an updated look starring a revised front fascia and headlights. The Limited XT, Touring XT, and Touring XT Leather replace the Touring and Touring Onyx, boasting an enhanced drive system with 105 more horsepower than before – and with a new 0-to-60-mph time of 4.9 seconds. The base powertrain found in the Premium and Limited is stronger too, generating 233 ponies compared to their predecessor’s 215 hp. Range gets a nice increase, too, rising from last year’s max of 227 to as much as 288 miles on a full charge, depending on the trim/powertrain configuration. A North American Charging Standard (NACS) port broadens its charging network. The enhanced 74.7-kWh battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 28 minutes with DC fast-charging, down from the 2025 Solterra’s 35-minute charge time.
As expected, there are equipment improvements to the ’26 Solterra as well: a power driver’s seat, dual wireless smartphone chargers, and ambient lighting are now standard, and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment has ousted the incumbent 8-incher. A power liftgate and split roof-mounted spoiler are found across the board, while a new foot-activated liftgate appears on all but the base trim.
